Defend Your Fortune is a high-energy, competitive, and cut-throat set-collection card game where players battle to become the first millionaire. The objective of the game is to be the first player to reach a $1 million score.

The game consists of 110 cards, including 12 different asset cards and 12 wild cards. Each player is dealt 4 cards from the deck in an anti-clockwise direction. The remaining cards are placed faced down at the center of the table to form a draw pile, while the topmost card is flipped over and placed face up next to the draw pile to form a discard pile.

The 12 different asset cards are represented by various items such as home, jewels, vintage auto, cash savings, coin collection, stocks, baseball cards, bank account, stamp collection, and piggy bank. Home cards have 8 copies, while all other asset cards have 10 copies. Wild cards, represented by gold and silver cards, can be used to make a pair with an asset card.

Gameplay proceeds in a clockwise direction, with players taking turns and performing one of four actions: making a pair from their hand, laying down two identical asset cards or an asset card and a wild card; placing the new pair perpendicular to the prior set of assets; or ending their turn without playing any cards. The round ends when all players run out of cards, and the game continues until one player reaches a $1 million asset value and is declared the winner.
